The UNAM High School No. 6 "Antonio Caso" is located in the center of Coyoacan on the corner of Corina Street and San Pedro Street. The neighborhood has a charm all its own.
The main square or historic center of this neighborhood is very nearby. It has two beautiful plazas shaded by lovely trees: Jardin Hidalgo and Jardin del Centenario. Carillo Puerto Street runs between these two parks.
To get to the historic center, go out of the school, cross the street and take Cuauhtemoc Street. Walk along Cuauhtemoc Street and cross Morelos Street and Gomez Farias Street. Walk another block and you will see one of the students' favorite cafes, El Jarocho, on the corner of Abasolo Street. Walk one more block to Allende and turn left. Walk along Allende and cross Moctezuma Street.
You will see the Jardin Hidalgo on your right. In the center of this lovely park there is a kiosk with a stained glass cupola topped by a bronze eagle. The Parish of San Juan Bautista (St. John the Baptist) faces Carrillo Puerto Street. Quite often you will see a trolley car parked in front of this church. You can take this trolley to visit more of Coyoacan.
Cross Carrillo Puerto Street and you are in the Jardin del Centenario. In the center of this plaza there is a fountain with two coyotes.
